Patmos is famous for its Chora, the upper town built around the Monastery of St. John, which dominates the entire island.
The port of Skala offers a long dock to moor. The dock is on the beam with respect to the Meltemi so the mooring is not easy and “spaghetti anchors” are on the agenda.
From Skala you can reach the Chora either by renting a scooter either by footpath (this option strongly recommended early in the morning before the arrival of warm).
The Chora is a maze of alleys, steps and porches and cool even in daylight, thanks to the shade and the Meltemi. Taking a little detour along the path you can admire the Monastery of the Apocalypse, which is home to many icons and vestments.
Patmos offers several shelters, many beaches and you spend a good couple of days.
